Impax's Possible Investments in Solar Energy

Impax's Possible Investments in Solar Energy

The solar energy market is seeing a reasonable influx of investments at this time. This is due to a growing global demand for affordable and sustainable energy; coupled with the fact that solar energy has recently shown to have higher returns on its investments than any other renewable power market. And with renowned international backers (like Google), more companies are now stepping up to the plate.

Registered in the United Kingdom, Impax Asset Management Group is currently managing about $3.5 billion. Now they are now looking for investments in solar energy to add to their portfolio. It is reported that Impax is investigating about four or five different companies in which to invest. These publicly traded solar companies are located in China, Europe and the United States of America.

According to Bruce Jenkyn-Jones, managing director of listed equities at Impax, these companies comprise of a producer of inverters, a company that leases grounds for parks and one or two Chinese manufacturers of panels and polysilicon. Reportedly, Jenkyn-Jones is of the opinion that the solar-sector is the first place to look for investment opportunities in the renewables market.

Renewables was a market distorted by subsidies, Jenkyn-Jones is quoted to have said in a recent interview with Bloomberg.com. Falling costs are now reducing subsidies, leading to more sustainable business models. Consolidation is also likely to lead to a more efficient market.

The addition of Impax Asset Management Group as an investor in solar energy, will only boost and stabilise the market even further. It's good news for both the environment, and the United Kingdom ñ where the government and companies like Sainsbury have also been making stabs at investing in solar energy.

Here's hoping that Impax's investment will have its moment in the sun. For more information, or for advice on investments in solar energy, feel free to contact the experts at Compare The Financial Markets.
