Paul Don Smith Art Prints
London is full of street art and graffiti. Pieces come and go each week, sometimes within days, rapidly changing the urban landscape. The East End has a prominent art scene where artists such as Eine, Obey and Faile display their talents. Leading the way is Paul ‘Don’ Smith. Active since 1985, Paul was brought up in Borneo and on returning to England picked up a spray can for the first time, aged 12.
Buy contemporary art– a quarter of century and still going strong
“I have been an active graffiti artist for 25 years,” he explained. “But my recent street art, where I create images that I think an audience/people may like, has been a shorter time; say five years or so.”
See contemporary art – street art - spray can versus stencil
Another excellent area for street art is around Old Street, where the world famous Banksy honed his talents, particularly with stencils. “I haven’t always worked with stencils. I am mostly a free-hand spray-can artist, but I am now a mixed medium artist, I have starved myself long enough!” continued the 38-year-old.
Contemporary art - From the street to the gallery
Paul does have work in galleries but is predominantly a street artist, as well as a freelance graphic designer. In these austere times, an investment in street art/graffiti is a wise move Ian Brown, Jason Flemyng and Roots Manuva have all seen the potential.
