The Opera Gallery London
The UK’s capital is awash with beautiful art galleries that attract well-heeled visitors from across the globe.
The Opera Gallery in New Bond Street - part of a leading network of 11 art galleries situated throughout the world in places such as Paris, Monaco, Singapore, New York, Miami and Venice - has housed works by the likes of Warhol, Picasso and Braque, as well as supporting upcoming artists.
A great investment
With the increasing globalisation of the art market, collectors are emerging from newly wealthy regions, interested in collecting both national and international art. The Opera Gallery has several examples of international artists, including Yayoi Kusama of Japan, and Yue Minjun of China.
A great example of art’s worth as a potential investment is Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Orange Sports Figure, which sold for £4.03m back in February. On display at the Opera is Basquiat’s Logo (1984), created two years later and equally as powerful. Since his death in 1988, Basquiat continues to influence the market, with a new generation of artists inspired by his style.
On October 12th, the Lita Cabellut exhibition promises a thrilling display of some amazing artwork…
Spanish flair
Lita grew up in Barcelona and her love affair with the arts began when the youngster discovered the Prado museum, aged 13. Becoming ‘amorous’ with Goya, Velazquez, Ribera and Rembrandt, she is famously quoted as saying: “I married very young, my first marriage was with the art.”
First exhibition
After four years of classical training, Lita opened her first exhibition in the Town Hall of Masnou, Barcelona, aged just 17. Two years later she left her native Spain to study at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where she still lives today.
Present day
Lita returns to the Opera with ‘Portrait of Human Knowledge’. Reflecting human emotion through the canvas, Lita depicts some of the most influential icons of ‘knowledge’ from the past 150 years, from Stravinsky, Nureyev, Marie Curie and Billy Holiday to Garcia Lorca, Rudolf Steiner and Sigmund Freud.
