Classic Cars for Sale In The UK

Classic Cars for Sale In The UK

Believe it or not, one of the best alternative investments in 2018 is in vintage and classic automobiles. In 2011, the profits realised from returns on vintage cars beat the returns on both gold and equities and the market for such items is thriving. Investors are looking for markets in which there is a demand for such limited quality items. It is no surprise that demand is increasing for vintage cars in a time where other, more typical investments, are causing financial losses.

If you are going to delve into the world of classic automobiles, you must be willing to become a true expert and must also be willing to protect your investment at a much higher level than the enthusiast. In other words, although you may realise an excellent profit, your maintenance costs can be quite high in order to preserve the value of your investments. If a lot of work is required to restore a vintage automobile, and more often than not the cost of restoration is more than the worth of the car.

Although rarity and lack of modification (i.e. original cars) tend to be worth the most money among collectors, certain makes and models tend to outperform others. Which make and model are popular is fluid and market-based. For this reason, short-term investing can be a bit risky. If you intend to become a short-term investor in vintage automobiles, you need to find items that will result in profit within a very short period of time. This is very difficult to do.

What are some of the best cars to look for in the vintage car market, with an eye toward One of the most beautiful and sought after cars is the Ferrari Testarossa from the 1980's. If bought now, it is estimated that this car will increase in value by 300% in the next 20 years. There is nothing classier than owning the same type of car James Bond uses in one of his movies.

The Triumph Stag MK1 from the early 1970's is one of these cars. Lovely and sleek in its design, this convertible is not only amazing to look at an own, but is fun to drive. Feeling particularly royal? The Mulliner or Olympian edition of the Bentley produced from 1997 - 1999 gives you the feeling of luxury while being one of the fastest luxury cars in history. Appreciation of this car over the next 20 years is estimated to be approximately 350%.

If you do not have a lot of money to spend on your vintage automobile, but still desire street cred, look for the Volvo P1800/1800S. This car is the one driven by Roger Moore when he was The Saint. Tail fins are a must for this car, and if it is maintained it will double or triple in value over the next 20 years.

A better approach is to be a long-term investor. Long-term investors gauge vintage cars according to certain intrinsic values of a car; according to rarity and demand; and according to speculation on how much a particular make and model will appreciate over a long period of time. When one is a long-term investor in this field, it is sometimes difficult to finally part with your investment, but it is the only way to realise your profits.
